The actual dates in a schedule are Actual Start and Actual Finish. Until you enter at least one actual date, MacProject II uses a task’s Earliest Start and Earliest Finish for the actual dates. 

Once you enter at least one actual date, MacProject II calculates the rest of the actual dates in the schedule—and if you direct it to calculate other aspects of the schedule with actual dates, the application uses these actual dates to recalculate the late dates.
